Make the corner
Make the corner is a daily driving game: one famous corner of a real circuit, in 3D, and three calls to make. Where you brake, how much speed you carry, and when you get back on the power.
A new round every day at midnight, the same for everyone.
How it works
- 1The car comes down the straight flat out, towards a famous corner. Hold the screen (or Space) to brake.
- 2Let go when the car is slow enough for the corner: the speed you let go at is the speed you carry through it.
- 3Press again for full throttle out of the corner. Too fast anywhere and you're off; hold the brakes until the car stops and the run is over.
Scoring
The car is the physics engine's car on the perfect racing line, with its grip, braking, downforce and power. A run through the corner scores 1000 for the perfect lap's time, minus 450 points for every second slower. Run wide or go off and the run scores zero; so does holding the brakes until the car stops. Each call gets a colour: purple for a perfect call, then green, yellow and red. You get three runs a day; the best one counts. Some days are wet, or run with low downforce, and the corner changes with them.
Three runs a day at the same corner, the same for everyone. Your best run counts, out of 1000.
Tips
- Brake late, but not so late that the car is still too fast at the corner: there is no margin past the perfect point.
- Let go of the brakes the moment the speed reaches the corner's speed. Any slower costs time; any faster and you're off.
- Wait for the apex before the throttle. Too early and the car runs wide at the exit.
- In the wet everything comes earlier: the brakes, the lower corner speed, and a gentler exit.
