How to play

Speed trap

Speed trap is a daily guessing game: how fast is the car at a given spot of a real circuit?

A new round every day at midnight, the same for everyone.

How it works

  1. 1A circuit from above, with a spot on the lap and an arrow for the way the car is going. The caption says what's there: a straight, the slowest point of a corner, or a fast corner.
  2. 2Set the speed you think the car does there on the perfect lap, with the slider or the + and − buttons, and lock it in.
  3. 3The speedometer shows the real speed. The closer you are, the more points: up to 100 a round, five rounds a day.

Scoring

Each day has five rounds on five different circuits: one top speed at the end of a straight, two of the slowest points of corners and two fast corners. The answer is the speed on Lapdle's perfect lap in the dry, as the physics engine drives it. A round scores 100 for the exact speed, less the further off you are, and nothing at 60 km/h or more off. Each round gets a colour: purple within 5 km/h, green within 15, yellow within 30.

Speeds are from Lapdle's physics on the perfect lap in the dry. Arrow keys nudge the guess; Shift moves 10 at a time.

Tips

  • Top speeds sit between about 290 and 350 km/h: longer straights mean more.
  • Hairpins are slow, often under 80 km/h; a long, open corner can be taken at well over 200.
  • Look at how tight the corner is on the map, and how long the straight is before it.
